"I'm much more confident in front of a camera, hidden by a character, enhanced by makeup, so I can go much further than I can in real life. Sexual acting is painful, because even though you're pretending, you have the skin of the person in front of you, and it's not the skin you wish you had. After that, you run into the shower to get rid of everything" --Ludivine Sagnier

I don't like reading the future.

Fires by Nick Antosca

A couple of years ago I won Nick Antosca's novel Midnight Picnic in a contest and when he shipped me the novel he included his debut novel Fires, too (shameless self promotion here: but Nick is also one of the authors who blurbed my book). I read Midnight Picnic first, loved it and subsequently read Fires. Fires has a different tone from Midnight--it's more Bret Easton Ellis. Anyway, Fires is great and it's been out of print for 2 years or so but now it's coming back this October from the small press Civil Coping Mechanisms. Look for it when it drops. Here's a link for more information.

"They make us want to stay forever kneeling. If it looks as if we are on our knees saying our prayers, look again." --Peter Markus The Singing Fish page 6
We've been working on Theater-State for a year now and it's almost to the printer. I couldn't be happier.
