'Where The Wild Things Are' has a trailer, it looks beautiful. The screenplay is by Spike Jonze (who also is the director) and Dave Eggers. Dave Eggers is the founder of McSweeney's. I have high hopes for this movie, considering the involved talent. The children's book is by Maurice Sendak.

I saw Watchmen a few days ago. The comic is one of my favorite graphic novels. The movie didn't capture the impending sense of doom and dread that the comic has on every page. It's a let down. In the movie I did like Rorschach, especially during the prison scenes. Also Dr. Manhattan's back story is portrayed well, in fact, it may be the best part of the film.

I'm about halfway through Haruki Murakami's 'Kafka on the Shore,' and it is fantastic.

I read Brian Evenson's short story, 'They,' from MLP and enjoyed it. I also picked up, 'The Open Curtain,' also by Evenson, currently sitting on my bookshelf. I'll probably read it after I finish the Murakami book.

We can only hope that Alan Moore's 'Lost Girls' will be made into a movie next...

I went to the Beep Beep Gallery the other night. I was on my way to see Justin Taylor and Rauan Klassnik do a reading, but I arrived an hour late, just as everything was getting wrapped up. So, I went around the corner to another art gallery, can't remember its name, but it had beer and was crowded, it was in a house.

A few nights ago after a blue cheese buffalo chicken sandwich and a couple of Pabst I finished Vonnegut's 'Slaughterhouse Five,' then proceeded to watch Woody Allen's Manhattan Murder Mystery. Slaughterhouse is a masterpiece, and murder mystery is very funny; Diane Keaton wears an all khaki pant suit.
Michael Kimball and Luca Dipierro are working on a film called 60 WRITERS/60 PLACES. Looks/ sounds interesting.

In a recent interview when Grant Morrison was asked about his new Batman and Robin comic series with artist Frank Quitely he said, "[It] is maybe more poppy, and more colourful, but it's also creepier. It's like David Lynch doing the Batman TV show."

I'm looking forward to this new series which is coming out sometime in June.
